Our Climbing Experience

Yesterday we took a day off to visit TCM and then had breakfast at Marine Parade Hawker Centre. We tried the Neptune Tim Sum there which was good.

Dearie enjoyed the glutinous rice and I liked the spare ribs. We also had shrimp dumpling, steamed carrot cake and fried beanskin roll for $14.70 which was a reasonable price to pay for a good meal.

After that, we took a bus down to Kallang Wave to try their wall climbing facilities. I was a bit apprehensive at first but dearie was enthusiastic to try it so…

We did our kiosk registration and
Made payment. $30 per pax for first timers (inclusive of registration, shoes and harness rental for full day) but because we have 20% discount vouchers, we only need to pay $24 plus $2 for socks purchase.

So in total, we paid $26x2 = $52.

Next, the lady took a photo of our pretty/handsome face and then gave us 2 cute little tags. We are now registered.

We changed into our shoes, proceeded for a quick briefing and then we are good to go.

There are a few types of walls. One of which you need someone to be a be-layer while the ones on the higher platform are auto-belayer system. (For those going alone).

There is also an area where you just climb with your bare hands and legs and if you fall, there is a mattress below to cushion the impact.
My classic wifey suffered some bruises and abrasion almost immediately after her first try. That is because she hasn’t got used to descending and did not dare to release her limbs away from the wall and as a result suffered a few knocks on her way down.

She then went to wash the wound and put a band-aid on the wounds and then we continued our climbs…

Pierre Png and Andrea De Cruz were there too, with their goddaughter.

We rested for awhile after a few hours of trying the different walls (it was so scary as you go higher and especially when you need to descend)

I went to NTUC Extra to get some vitamin water and 2 buns from the bakery beside it as we took a break from all the climbing.

We left Climb Central around dinner time at 6pm and had our dinner at Aston’s Specialities (our usual orders of double up Chicken for me and grilled fish for wifey) before walking to the bus stop and heading home.

Exhausted, limbs sore but satisfied that we finally managed to try wall climbing. Together. ;o)
