Milky Way + Jpot = The Theory of Everything

Last Saturday we went wifey's favourite clay pot frog leg porridge at Chinatown. After that, we walked the streets for awhile before heading home. One of the shop we visited was

TinTin with his sidekick doggy "snowy"

Captain "Billions of Blistering Barnacles" Haddock

Tin Tin was one of my favourite comic during my growing up years (together with Asterix and Journey to the West ) . I always borrowed these books whenever I visit the library and I will spend countless hours devouring them.

Thus, it is nice to see a shop dedicated to this comic character.

In the evening, we tried this Ramen shop that Yilong has recommended.

It is along Bugi Street and the concept is that there are 4 seasons of ramen for the diner to select. Each with a distinct taste in line with that particular season.

Autumn Ramen

Wifey and I chose the Autumn set (mushroom based soup). It was nice to begin with but gets a bit heavy towards the end and wifey couldn't really finish her portion. So as her Hubby knight with a bulging tummy, I went to her rescue and helped her finish off the monstrous Ramen.

we finished the meal with light and refreshing Yuzu sorbet.

As we had an early dinner, we have some time left for shopping at Bugis Street and wifey got for herself some dresses and a bag ;o)

we then took a stroll to Chimes and saw "Prive". Nice ambience and we have shortlisted that place for either our birthday/wedding anniversary celebration.

On Sunday, we tried Milky Way for the very first time. We had waffles with ice cream

with a cup of latte

Milky Way is a nice and clean cut café situated at Tanglin Halt. its a good place to just chill and chit chat if its not crowded.

Monday was an off day for us and we took the opportunity to visit Jpot! we have always wanted to try the steamboat here and we finally got the chance when I purchased the Groupon promotion. As it can only be used during the weekdays and to ensure we can eat at a leisurely and non crowded environment, we decided to clear a day of our leave just for this ;o) some pictures below.

Doesn't it look like hotel buffet setting?

Wifey on the border of Twilight Zone

We ordered the set lunch for 2 and some additional dishes like beancurd, sliced fish and prawns. It was more than enough for the both of us.

After lunch, we walked a bit to digest the food while looking at some awesome toys such as

He Man - Master of the Universe

O.Prime

BumbleBee

Love this! WWII Cap. Am. Vintage Figurine... Cool

We then caught the 410pm show "Theory of Everything"

It was a truly touching and engaging movie.

Project Sparkle 2015

Yesterday, I went for my first volunteering for Project Sparkle. This is an initiative by our church to mobilise members to help clean up the premises of the elderly and needy families around our church community.

Even though this project has been started a few years back, I never got involved before. So yesterday I decided to join Danny and the rest of the people in the sub d at the last minute having not registered myself beforehand.

I reached Textile Centre at about 930am and had my breakfast of nasi lemak. Kok Yong was drinking his coffee there too and we chatted and caught up with each other. Aun Leng and Cindy joined us after awhile. At about 10am, we went up and link up with the rest of the group for a briefing.

After the briefing and collecting our cleaning tools, we walked over to our beneficiary's unit near Jalan Besar.

The unit where we were assigned to clean was empty so after some rearrangement, we proceed to clean up his neighbour's home ;o)

Do I look like Optimus Prime when I don my face mask?

We completed the cleaning at about lunchtime and brought uncle down for a nice meal

It was a meaningful way to spend the weekend.

Like what Ps. Jeff told us before we set off for our cleaning, many times when we serve, the ultimate beneficiary is always ourselves because when we serve, we see for ourselves how blessed we are to be able to be a channel and vessel of blessings. How true....

Dipping Our Toes into the New Year

Yesterday was the first day of the new year. Wifey and I woke up early for a morning stroll at the Botanic Gardens

Even though the Botanic Gardens was quite near our house, it has been quite some time since we last visited.

It was a nice way to dip our toes into 2015, enjoying the crisp and fresh morning air amidst lush greeneries together... in an unhurried manner, just like this graceful swan swimming in the lake

Even though it drizzled a little, the squirrels were out to play.. and how pleased was wifey to greet her little friends scurrying about again...

I wasn't fast nor am I stealthy enough to take an actual close-up shot of wife's furry friend so this is something I downloaded from the net... ha ha..cute?

some more pictures we took along the way...

and 2 hours later, we emerged from another exit

We then walked over to the nearby Serene Centre and had our McDonald's Breakfast. Wifey had hotcakes meal while I took the breakfast deluxe. And we brought back 2 balloons for Glen and GiGi

It was a nice time spent with wifey.

After that, we took a bus home to put down our stuffs and went out again with folks to visit grandpa... very coincidentally, aunt Jessie/Uncle Bobby and Uncle Jimmy/Aunt Winnie were there too... feels very much like Chinese New Year then.

We sat for sometime there and then went over to Clementi Mall to resolve the watch issue. After looking at the selection for quite some time, wifey couldn't find something she like to replace her Skagen, so ended up I chose a Fossil Watch for myself and topped up a little bit more. Felt really bad that her present became mine in the end...

A little bit tired, we headed home after that together with folks.

wifey then rested for awhile before going up for dinner and then we went down and completed our Royal Caribbean Scrapbook for my parents, thanks wifey for her invaluable help to stick those little seashells etc... they looked very pleased to received that memento of our family retreat last month.

It was a fruitful day indeed... I pray that Year 2015 will be very fruitful too.
